Reciprocal Teaching (Palincsar & Brown 1984) is a useful teaching method for guided reading groups. The teacher works with a small group of learners and models four reading strategies: After learners understand the process, the teacher can allocate learners to take turns at running the group. Clear examples of reciprocal teaching, including videos, are available at the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development website. Use the hyper-links above to access these examples and Palinscar & Brown's paper. It would be possible to use the Four Resources model (Luke & Freebody) during this process. |
