Every singer and band needs a repertoire.
A vocalist/guitarist or band usually gets booked for four hours.
A repertoire is the collection of songs they know how to perform well.
The more songs they know, the longer they can perform.
The repertoire of an act is usually broken into sets. For example,
  • 4 x 40 minute sets = 8:00 - 8:40, 9:05 - 9:45, 10:10 - 10:50, 11:15 - 12:00
  • A 40 minute set is approximately ten songs
  • Songs are carefully sequenced to make a repertoire flow.
  • Songs are usually hits of the past and top 40 of today.
  • The style of repertoire depends on the venue's atmosphere.
Knowing at least 40 songs will enable you to work in hotels, clubs, bars and restaurants.
